La Fortaes – Typical dessert
Ingredients (for 6 people approx.):
1 cup of milk
300 grams of flour
“garnetes” cranberry jam
Break the eggs into a bowl, add a pinch of salt and the milk; pour in the flour, stirring with a wooden spoon, until you get a soft batter. Meanwhile heat plenty of sunflower oil in an iron pan, when it is steaming, pour the batter: let it flow through the beak of a funnel, turning in a spiral so as to give the “fortaes” characteristic spiral shape. Brown the fried cakes on both sides and drain well. Serve dusted with icing sugar, very hot, with cranberry jam … mmmm, how good!
